England vs Italy Euro 2012 – Spot the distractionSunday night England were knocked out of the Euro 2012 by Italy, losing the penalty shootout after playing out to a 0-0 draw after extra time.
England’s Ashley Young hit the cross bar and and Ashley Cole’s lame attempt was saved by Gianluigi Buffon but Italy’s Andrea Pirlo showed the way forward with the most casual of chip kicks straight in as keeper Joe Hart dived to the right.
Penalty shootouts are full of mind games and keepers will often try to distract the kickers by making strange faces and jumping up and down and spreading their arms. Unluckily for Hart, this did nothing to distract the Italian players, not even the fans could put them off.
Nice try by the 2 guys in green though, +1 for effort.
