If you are going by motorcycle I would suggest the Buriram-Surin-Prasat-Kap Cheong route. It is far more motorcycle friendly that the route 24.

Starman, thanks for the advice. Was going to take 24, but I'll change my route. Always a chance for rain this time of year. Going to head out early in the morning, get in and out before the afternoon showers. If the rain comes, and won't let up, I'll just grab a few beers and stay the night. Then head back to Burriram in the (hopefully dry) morning.

Yeah Ryan , "poll position" is the name of the game , I have noted over the years I've been here that morning rain is not the Norm, do the Biz at Immigration, then have a natter with Gotlost over a "couple"  and get your arse back before 2 PM  and its in the bag!. party4

I have read all the posts on this forum & Thaivisa regarding the use of Kap Choeng Immigration for residents of Buriram & Surin. I live in Nongki and although Dan Kwien (Korat) is much more convenient for me, I had accepted the fact that I would subsequently have to travel to Kap Choeng (about twice the distance) for 90 day reports & extensions etc. However, yesterday, me & Mrs M went shopping to Korat, so I thought I'd call in Dan Kwien immigration on the way there to see  if they would accept my 90 day report. I got to immigration, took a number and waited my turn. When it was my turn I handed the officer my passport and she got my details up, checked them against my passport, then printed out the TM47 which I duly signed and then she stapled the receipt in my passport. There was no mention of Kap Choeng whatsoever. Maybe I was lucky this time....

Unless you live in Bangkok, you can do your 90 day report at any Immigration office (including some border crossing)

No need to travel from Nongki to KCI for it.

Mailing it in is another option.

Korat and KCI will not except mail in reports. Its entirely upon the immigration office and officers if they wish to let an out of area due their 90 day report out of their area. The law says you are to report at the office that you received your extension or that your area is assigned to. Burirm Provence and Surin Provence is Kap Choeng.

Thats what I was thinking. I was allowed to do the report @ Dan Kwien because thats where my last 2 extensions were processed.
Gotlost: I was looking forward to calling in at your gaff for a breakfast after completing my 90 day report @ Kap Choeng, but as thats postponed due to my report @ Dan Kwien, I'll have to wait a little bit longer until my next extension in January....unless everything changes again before then

Hi Somnat,
it would be useful if you could provide the following info:
Where was your current 1 year extension processed?
When & where was your last 90 day report?
Please provide the source of your statement regarding reporting anywhere...

Regarding mailing in of 90 day reports ... I should have said "mailed into Bangkok" as Korat and KCI do not accept them (yet)

I certainly did give some mis-information regarding where you can do your report

http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/en/base.php?page=90days states that Offices accepting notification: Immigration offices throughout the country. With NO mention of having to report locally.

Whereas http://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/base.php?page=faq states Question :  Where is the place to make 90 days notification?
Answer :  In case of notifying in person or by agent, it must be made at the Provincial Immigration office located in the same area of the alien’s residence.

Conflicting information from 2 official immigration website + my interpretations = wildman

Obviously, if you are away from your normal place of residence ie: holidays / business / tavelling when your 90 day report is due you can report in the area you are in. (using the residential address your are at on that day - not your home address)

My current extension was done at Korat Immigration earlier this year. 90 day report also at Korat. Next one due in August and I will try Korat again as I will be there for vehicle sevicing anyway. If no luck I will go to KCI. Should be intresting and I will let you know the outcome :)

Did my 90 report at Kap Choeng this morning, my 1st time there.

1.  I took from Buriram 219 south to 24, then to 214 to KCI.  I would not recommend this route as 24 from Prakhon Chai to 214 is 2 lane (not 4 lane as from the Bangkok 2 turnoff). And of course most of 219 from Buriram is 2 lane.

2.  KCI is easy to find as there is a sign in English for the immigration office.  Once you make the turn it is about 100 meters on the left.  The only problem I had was that there was some kind of festival and a lot of traffic.

3.  There are 3 desks serving customers in the room on the right as you enter.  It seems I came when all were processing Visas.  Luckily the head lady asked what I wanted, I said 90 day check in and showed her my mostly filled out TM 47.  She took me right then and 5 minutes later I was done.  Would have been quicker if she could have found the right stamp sooner.  Highly recommend you have the TM 47 in hand when you go for the 90 day.  Download from here:  http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/en/base.php?page=download   sawadi

4.  Made the mistake of continuing south to the Market.  As you turn right back onto 214, go about 9 KM and when you hit 4 lane with a large market, you are there.    My TG made the most of it.  screwy

5.  Returned up 214 to about Surin and then to Buriram.   Once you get to 24, 214 North is 4 lane.  And the road to Buriram is probably 4 lane except for about 20 KM.  There is construction going on to correct about 1/2 of that.    So from my stantpoint the Buriram - Surin - 214 route is the way to go.   bike038
