Dog shelter in Buriram?
« on: March 16, 2012, 11:30:19 AM »
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-17381607

I found this, never heard about this police action or the shelter. Seeing as the dog pictured seems to be a poodle and I am looking for a male poodle, I would be interested in finding this place. Any ideas please?

This is the first I've heard of it being in Buriram;  I thought they were being held in Nakhon Phanom.  There was a lot of news about it two or three months ago;  check on Thai Visa (you don't have to be a member).

It doesn't look like a poodle to me!

This is the thread in ThaiVisa.  I have just asked if anyone knows where it is (in Buriram or elsewhere).

I don't know what the BBC reporter thought he was doing (maybe too many beers the night before).  The dog seizure, as far as I can find out, was in Nakorn Phanom, and the pound is either there or in Khonkaen.

In Korat at the first soi on the right hand side of the road going to the technical university (the main road is no 304) there is dog breader who sells mini and toy poodles and other small breads. I have bought a male shi tzu from them. A very likeable and active dog but no poodle. I am also looking for a male mini poodle (black and with the tail intact) to have as company for the shi tzu and to hunt mice, rats and my neighbours chicken. This will be in August or September.
There is a big nightmarket (7 days) outside Korat along the road to Saraburi. There are a lot of dogs and pets for sale. If they don't have what you want maybe they can give you a tip. Many years ago I bought a mini poodle from a breader in Hua Hin. I don't know if that breader is still there. I will try to find out.
I will go to Pattaya in the end of April and have a look of what is available there. oldmanwithstick

Yes, there is one.  My friend the pig doctor got his dog from it, and of course it is called Lucky.

When I need to go to Buriram for shopping or to the hospital, he gives me a lift.  One day recently he took me out to Newin City (the new stadium and copy of Phanomrung), and on the way back to the main road (226, I think;  the one which goes past Makro), he pointed out a road off to the left, and said the dog pound was down there.

Sorry I can't be more precise!
