Immigration office if you live in Buriram ?
« on: February 28, 2009, 03:11:43 AM »
I think I saw the other week that there was some restructuring of the visa office rules governing where you had to go if you lived in a certain area. Does anyone have the current correct information ?

I'll be happy to get more details on this issue.
As far as I know the main "isaan area" include buriram is KORAT (nakhon ratchasima), There's an office in Surin as well (closer than Korat) but even they admit you better go to Korat as they don't have all the permission to do the visas and they actually just send the documents to Korat.
so...forum people living in Buriram wanting the fastest and simpliest way (as far as visa can be.. happy1 ) KORAT.

It is my understanding that you must only go to the immigration office in the area where you live.

For those living in Buriram and Surin, Kap Choeng is the office to go to. Korat office will in all likliehood refuse to assist you!

That is not true. as Korat is the one whom handle all buriram/surin area documents.
Ask in Surin what they doing with your documents once you apply.  confused2 (hint:send to korat).

You are correct Thaidog and Admin is wrong in that expats should go to Korat.
Sure the documents are finally agreed by Korat but the Kap Cheung Office is where we MUST GO IN PERSON if you reside in either Surin or Buriram province.

Unless there has been another change in the past few days, it is  possible (after October 1)to do the 90 days report at Chom Cheong border post (down the road from the Kap Cheong office).  But it must be Korat for visa extensions etc.

I too believe that to be correct. A small 'shack' will be provided at the border crossing for reports. I am going to Kap Cheung tommorrow and will report here my findings.
Further info can be sourced here....

Well I did my last ever 90 day report today at Kap Cheung Immigration Office.

The ever helpful Daw explained that she will be going over to work in Korat, so thats their gain.
She confirmed that further 90 day reports (only) could be done at the exit side(left) of Chong Chom Border.

She did, however, say make sure the guys understand that you are reporting only and NOT leaving Thailand. From that, I guess, she is expecting problems there but they do have her phone number if problems arise. I suppose the good news is you will now be able to report on Saturday & Sundays.

I'm on an extended visa and required to check in every 90 days.  We live 15 KM from Buriram on the Lamplaimat rd. Where is the closes/ best place to check in?

Kap Cheung is the office that deals with Buriram & Surin. However many lads from Nong Ki go to Dan Kwain to do their 90 day reports as its a damn sight closer without any problem.
