my first question is does anyone know why there is a habit to plug out electricity item in thailand?
 
is there is real reason or it just a habit that rutted out of unjustly fear?

In a storm I always do now!!!!!
We had a lightening strike in the village a few years ago and it cost me a TV and a big repair bill for the Aircon unit.
Also if I go out all day I unplug most thing except the fridge.

Ken - You need insurance - no problems then and no necessity to go round unplugging everything.

I invariably wander down in the early morning - top up the kettle with water and switch it on. 5 minutes later...fcuk - the wife's unplugged it.  It happens regularly, but at that time I am unable to think to check.

Probably because of all the stray dogs roaming the streets, there is a good possibility their shoes will be impregnated with dog shit!

Those kettle cost about 300baht a month to keep on all the time,your wife seems like a bright lady to me 

Switch off and unplug appliances and chargers

Make sure lights and other electrical equipment in rooms you’re not using are turned off (not just left on standby) and only leave your chargers plugged in and switched on when you’re actually charging your device. At all other times make sure the socket is switched off and, ideally, your charger is unplugged. Easy!

Did you know that 95% of the energy used by  mobile phone chargers is wasted energy? Only 5% is actually used to charge phones, the rest is used when the charger is plugged into the wall but not switched off at the socket.

That’s over 50,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions that could be avoided if we all just unplugged our chargers after use. Amazingly, this is the equivalent of almost 500 football pitches’ worth of forest every year. Incredible!

And that goes for all appliances! Leaving televisions, DVDs and computers on standby, rather than switching them off, emits four million tonnes of CO2 and wastes £740m a year. The average household could save 1000 baht baht in electricity bills each year by turning appliances off and not leaving them charging unnecessarily.That's a 1000 baht to spend on other things .

No Ken - it is not one of THOSE kettles!. As I said,I switch it on.

It's an automatic kettle (price circa 300bt), which switches itself off when the water is boiled.  Sadly it is incapable of plugging itself into the power socket!

As I'm an early riser , Nok loves it when I plug it in early ,she like to wake up to something hot and sweet on her lips,that's why I  bring her a nice hot cup of Oveltine first thing 


She tell me it helps her sleep during the day
