Excuse me chaps, just a point of order. There are no UK riots, only English riots! CNN has already been blasted for stating ''UK riots''. I'm told 300 Glasgow police are heading for London, proper coppers that won't take any hassle!
strange SCOTLAND protecting england.i suppose that's when it becomes the u.k. riots. burirampea

Jamaw.....You haven't been on here for a while. The last time you were on here you were pointing out that you were British. That Wales was not a country. That it is all part of the UK. Now you are trying to distance yourself.

Don't understand.

The Strathclyde police were requested due to their experience of handling 5 Old Firm games a season. This was noted at the UEFA Cup final when Manchester police were slammed for their incompetence in crowd control. It is a United Kingdom and we all help each other and on this occasion we will send down specially trained police to beat the lights out of them!

Yes, I'm a busy man. I did point out a fact that wales, Scotland and indeed are not countries which is true. They are part of the United Kingdom which is a country! Scotland and England were previously recognised as countries prior to the Act of the Union, Wales was not as it was taken up and administered by England so Wales played no part in the negociations of the Union hence why there is no Welsh flag incorporated in the Union Flag...which in my little opinion is wrong and insulting to Wales!

And not distancing my self, have a think about it! This is a problem unique to London and other cities have copy cats! If there were riots solely in Glasgow or Cardiff do you think it would be described as British? History tells me not.

Anyway, got a funny link on Facebook sent....Col Gadhaffi & the Libyan Government now recognise the London rioters as the UK's legitimate Government ;-)

Thank you for your answer. I totally agree with you. Difficult not to. Can't argue with facts.

I like the bit in your previous post " It is a United Kingdom". Good point.

Not sure Mr.Jones would agree. whistle

We all have banter as ex-pats and sometimes we Scots are the worst but I loved moments like watching England beat the Aussies at Cricket when I was in Australia and supporting England and giving the Aussies stick....and I have good Aussie mates!

Binny, I don't think this is an English problem. I've read and listened to many comments on there riots and one American stated..''this is not an English thing'' which is true! We can digress or perhaps say certain things but two facts....90% of the people of Tottenham are from ethncic backgrounds and as much as 80% of the ethnic community have no fathers, single mothers from the age of 13 up! I got that from Andrew Neil on Twitter and it was mentioned in BBC's Newsnight!

Well, it is Candy. Wales is as much a part as Scotland and England and more so then N. Ireland yet the N.Irish flag is incorporated in the flag.

Just to answer a litte point Binnsy...the National Anthem of UK is what the Scots object to because of the 6th verse or the 8th verse that was originally written....''to slay the rebellious Scots we will''. How can one be 'United' when that was written? Of course it has not been sung now but the full version still exists and is indeed an English anthem thrust upon the other nations!
