The UK has sunk to a new low.   cheergirl

To the tiny students at this dance studio, the moves are totally innocent.

In fact, they are being instructed in the sleazy art of pole dancing. And their age? As young as three. Child protection groups yesterday labelled these images from the classes ‘deeply disturbing’.

Parents pay £5 an hour for their daughters to learn pole dancing at the Little Spinners classes. Instructor Carly Wilford insists it helps youngsters keep fit and boosts their self-esteem.

Just Plain Wrong ....
This only serves to further sexualise young girls.
This kind of thing helps to make it more mainstream-acceptable to allow young girls to copy strictly-inappropriate, strictly-adult aspects of grown-up life.  There is nothing harmless about this trend.
This would be innocent fun, only if there were no such thing as paedofiles.  Unfortunately there are such monsters out there, and innocence has to be protected.  What are those mothers thinking ?,  Do the fathers know whats going on ?

Pole Dancing Class For 7-Year-Olds Slammed

BOLTON, England - Family campaigners have blasted a British fitness group for teaching pole dancing to girls aged seven -- and putting pictures of them on the internet.

The photos show youngsters upside down on poles dressed in shorts, crop tops and vests.

Parents must agree before the images, taken at JLN Pole Fitness in Bolton, northern England, are posted on Facebook.

But a spokesman for Christian charity the Mothers' Union told The Sun , "Children are being targeted with an activity that's part of a male club culture which objectifies women."

He added, "We hope parents would consider the negative impact it could have on their child's perception of their own body and sexuality."

Local councilor Nick Peel, who is responsible for children's services in the area, warned, "It's a dangerous world on the internet. People need to be aware of the situation they can be putting children into."

But Jess Leanne Norris, 18, who teaches the youngsters, insisted that "nothing rude is going on."

She said, "What I teach is pole fitness -- nothing else. I've never received any complaints."

Norris also claimed that the photos on the web were not "inappropriate."

Any parent witch encourage their children to be involved in such a disgusting activity, should be giving a long prison term, and their children taking from them, and put into a safe and caring position.
the so called dancing school should be closed down with a warning if you try this again the only possible outcome will be a prison term.
as adults we all have a equal share as to make sure our children are safe and happy.

Wow, and who is to decide what is the right way to raise a child?  In the US the GVT is already intrusive enough.  San Fransisco has banned circumcision, it that right?

Based on my own philosophy of "Live and let live as long as they aren't hurting anyone."  I think the parents have the right to let their children do this.

So who can really decide what is right or wrong?

Surely the question is not whether this is right or wrong.
The question should be: whether this is harmful to the children's perception of their own bodies, distorting the childrens perception of being on display and how much to display, potentially damaging the child's perception of self worth and placing the children in harms way by allow such images be put on the internet.
The moves whether they are for fitness or whatever will still be based, to a degree, on a stripper's/poles dancer's routine.
Teaching 8 year olds to mimic these moves is wrong in my view.  leave kids be kids.

And the fact that the teacher, who justifies it as 'nothing rude' is only 18, shows that this hasn't been thought out properly by a mature adult with some life experience.  I know when I was 18 I thought everything was just a bit of fun.  The world is not like that, it can be a dangerous place.
Jess might call it 'Pole Fitness', but there are perv's out there that would call it porn.

I mean really ... send the kids to dance classes.  Let them be kids, why mix it with something very adult that has obvious links to the seedy side of life.

Lady Ga Ga has a lot to answer for.

End of sermon !

I agree it is disgusting (inappropriate, and should not be taught to young children), that is why I posted it.  I also think eating insects is disgusting, but I would not try to ban it in Thailand.

But then was is the specific age that girls should be allowed to learn pole dancing?  18?  Why that age and not 17?   How about when they are able to bear children?  Or when they start having boyfriends?

My point is that it should be a parents responsibility.  When GVT gets involved, they keep getting involved.

As to why 18 specifically or any other minimum age ?, 18 is when they are judged to have the capability to make decisions on adult matters.
But you could say the same for smoking, drinking, having sex, driving.  There has to be an established minimum age for certains things that will/may have a big (and possibly negative) effect on a child.  And again, we are speaking about Children.  They do not have the necessary knowledge yet to allow them to make an informed decision.  That is the adult Parent's job. Would you let a child drink because they wanted to after seeing britney spears do it on TV ?

You could take the simplistic view that the parents should make all those decisions.  But some parents are very bad at being parents and thats why we have social services.  What if those same parents decided that education wasn't important and didn't bother sending the kids to school.  Would that be ok coz their parents said so ?  Remember Morons have children too (usually a lot of children).

But from your last post, you seem to be more concerned about the Gov. telling you what to do, than the actual subject of this thread.

Seriously Urleft, can you look at those pictures and tell me it doesn't make you uncomfortable.

Years ago, I might have been less concerned with a topic like this.  But I now have a daughter myself.  Drastically changes my perspective.
If someone took a photo of my daughter at her dance class, I would get suspicous.
If she was going to a class like this pole dancing, I'd get angry.
If someone took photos of my daughter in a pole dancing class like that, they'd get hurt, I'd get the camera.  Full Stop.  I wouldn't give a fcuk if it was the 18 year old class teacher holding the camera.  She deserves a slap anyway to wake her up a little to reality.

Any parent that thinks this kind of exposure of their kids to adult themes isn't the start of a slippery slope is not paying attention to their job as a parent.
