Thanks to you all for your input, I'm going there early Feb for renewal of retirement visa and my co-pilot is my thai lady, so the more I know the better.I've seen the video which is very good. I would like to go on the 226 all the way to Korat, any thoughts on that, cheers Tom.

I understand you are coming from Lamplaimat direction to Korat.
Drive straight on 226 road, as you arrive to the T junction take LEFT on road 224(Turn right is to Korat/Nakhon ratchasima city).
Keep straight about 17 kms, you will see the pottery village gate on the left side.
Get inside the village, drive straight only until the 'immigration office' sign on the right side.
Turn right and after 100 meters you will see the immigration office on the left side.

Time deposits for a fixed period of six months or above are accepted.  You need a letter from the bank as well as a copy of the account, and the last entry in the account must be on the day the letter was issued (daft, I know, but that's the way they want it).  I find it hard to believe that Immigration won't accept accounts at such a leading bank as Kasikorn.  I've always done it from Siam Commercial, but this year will be changing to Krung Thai (which is a Government bank, and therefore should be acceptable).

Sorry, not very clear.  I think you have to deposit for six months, but anyway you can break this at any time with interest.  The requirement is that the money is there for three months (two the first time you do it) when you apply for your extension.

Hello,

Some good news. Was today in the immigration office at Khorat. They told me they will got to Buriram and Surin, alternately 1 day a month. Tomorrow, 8th march in Surin, next month in Buriram. All kind of issues can be done there. Surin office is at the crossing nearby the police headquarters. Buriram I do not know, but call.

Just some general information for the BE members. This past Friday I was in the Korat Immigration renewing my extention to stay based on marriage. A cake walk, only took 30 minutes course I was number four and when we departed there was over 20 others waiting. Anyway Korat Immigration informed that they would be closed on May 7&9 only May 7&9 also If you have been folowing us on SF forum the Kap Choeng Immigration is scheduled to reopen to full service in May and they have not set a date as of the past Friday. As I live in Kap Choeng and the wife (with my help) has opened a farang/Thai/western coffee shop we have been staying on top of the developments for the reopening of KCI. Our name is M&D Coffee and we are located 600 meters south of KCI on the east side of the highway. We offer all kinds of coffee drinks hot and cold along with western food that the locals can not get enough of an course we have beer and wine. I'll keep you informed of the reopening of KCI and in the mean while if your in the area stop by and say hello.

M&D Coffee is only 600 meters south of KCI on the east side of 214.
If you go to..                                       http://surincoffeeshops.blogspot.com/ you will see our shop, M&D.
If yo click on coffee shop map top left google map comes up with location, as said we are  only 600 meters south of KCI.
