We will much appreciate if you will type using small letters and not CAPITAL LETTERS ALL THE TIME. wildman

On the Internet, using capital letters is equal to screaming/speaking load in real life.

It is also less convenience to read so your message and it is more likely to be ignored and will not be taken as serious message by members reading it.

I've found over the years some are good and some are bad. I've been caught speeding and let off,I've been fined 200 baht  when I have driven to fast. They once tried to fine me 1500 for speeding in Bangkok that went down to 1000,then 500,then 300 and then nothing when I told them I saw the speed camera and was not going over 80-kph.The best thing is to stay cool, smile and plead your case.( never ,never lose it  nono].I once got stopped for speeding in Udon Thani when I wasn't speeding. He said pointing to a note book" Toyota Tiger 123kph ...I told him mine was a Hi_lux ......I still had to pay 200 baht or go to the Police Station and plead my case there. I paid as it's not worth the hassle. He tried to shake my hand as I left but I refused ...he looked at the ground......enough said !!!!

Here's an article from the Bangkok Post......

So for speeding in Australia what would the penalty be ?

In England it is £60 and 3 points on your licence.

In Australia spiritual home of the speed camera Nazi one may expect $150 AUD( 4,800 Baht )  per 10 kph above the limit ( in my state) and loss of 3 demerit points ( of 12 issued). If you exceed the limit by 30 kph you will have your license removed for 6 months. This is an automatic ruling. I am not sure of the automatic fine....but I expect it's draconian !
I blame an English bloke by the name of Gatsonides for all this.......

I have heard from some that if you have GPS, say you have evidence of not speeding on your little box of tricks. Ask to see their evidence (which is usually non-existant) and they wave you on. I have not experienced this first hand and it might just be a Thai urban legend.

Brits not guilty this time see~~~~~

Maurice ("Maus") Gatsonides (Gombong, Kebumen Regency, February 14, 1911 — Heemstede, November 29, 1998) was a Dutch rally driver and inventor. Gatsonides was born in Central Java in the former Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia). He founded the company "Gatsometer BV" in the Netherlands in 1958.

Today, Gatsonides' fame largely results from inventing the Gatso speed camera, a speed measuring device used today by many police forces to catch speeding drivers. He originally invented the Gatso speed camera to measure his cornering speed in an attempt to improve his driving.
