Real estate in Buriram help.
« on: February 17, 2011, 10:38:47 AM »
I will be retiring to Burriam Town by December 1st of this year.
My initial Visa will be a one year multiple entry, however, I will
proceed to a retirement Visa.

I am interested in starting a business relationship.
I am married for the last 7 years to a Buriram lady and wish to buy or build a house either in Town or close by and would like some real estate help.
I am a professional real estate broker in Canada and wonder if you or
anyone else provides a service there.

I have been to the town many times and presently have an apartment
there.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Welcome to Buriram expats site.

You may want to take a look at Isaan Lawyers website for information about setting up a Thai Business so that you can then (sort of) own Thai land/properties. Also something to consider is, after your initial 12 month visa expires, extending it due to retirement will not make it possible to work with this visa, so an alternative type of visa may be worth considering.

This is not the easiest country to do business due to corruption but I wish you good luck in your venture.

Hello pfbrown, have youreself well informed about propertie values. Don't trust costructers if they want to sell you land or properties, big chance you get ripped-off, let your wife always make first contact and ask for prices before they have seen you. Family helping you is out of the question.
Good luck.

Gentlemen, thanks for the input, any advice is appreciated. I guess there are no faring realtors in town like there is in Hua Hin or other resort towns.

Not quite the same level of sophistication in real estate sales here as in the resort areas or Bangkok. A heavily marketed property here will have a sign in the window with a phone number.  I dont necessarily think that means there is an opportunity for you.  I would guess that many Thais just wouldnt perceive the value is a real estate agent.

Plus some are either sold within the family/community or 'pawned' to the chinese.
I think a farang selling properties in Isaan would have to have a permanant suit of armour and a hard-hat, too!  bike037  :o
