Published on December 16, 2010Four commercial banks yesterday announced combined cash reserves of Bt126.05 billion for withdrawal via ATMs during the New Year period. The amount of cash they have allocated is almost the same as during the New Year period last year.
Siam Commercial Bank has set aside cash of Bt40 billion, the same amount as last year. About Bt30 billion will be distributed to 7,841 automated teller machines and Bt10 billion will go to 1,014 SCB branches.
Bangkok Bank has set aside Bt40 billion for withdrawals through its more than 6,500 ATMs nationwide. The bank said in its statement that 200 of its branches in shopping malls would remain open on New Year's Day to meet customer needs.
Kasikornbank has set aside cash of Bt22.05 billion for withdrawals through ATMs during the New Year period, with Bt12 billion earmarked for bank machines in Bangkok, Bt10 billion for provincial branches and Bt50 million for remote areas. The bank operates 7,464 ATMs.
The provision is only slightly higher than last year's Bt22 billion set aside for the holiday period, pointing to the bank's assumption that spending this year would not be much higher.

At present, Krungsri has a total of 584 branches and 3,036 ATMs nationwide.
