AMPHOE BAN KRUAT

Ancient Quarry

is the site where the ancient Khmer people used to obtain rocks to build sanctuaries in the lower Northeast. It is near Khao Kloi and Khao Krachiao, adjacent to the Thai - Cambodian border, 7 km. from Amphoe Ban Kruat on the Ban Kruat-Lahan Sai Road, and 3 km. from the main road. An asphalt road leads to the quarry, making travel most convenient. It is believed that rocks from this quarry were used to build Phanom Rung and other sanctuaries in Buri Ram. There are rock hills on both sides. A stream flows through this lovely area.The ancient Quarry is far from Phanom Rung Historical Park about 45 kms.

Ban Kruat is 66 kilometres south of Buriram. Historical sites in this district are as follows:

This is 6 kilometres from Ban Kruat into the way to Lahan Sai. The hill is littered with rocks large and small, some with traces of rock cutting. It is believed stones taken from here were used to construct a large number of sanctuaries in the lower Northeast.

I didn't found any company producing them in Buriram but there are several companies in Bangkok and Saraburi.
