As you can see, the boat racing will be OK this year even though the floods brought the river water surface to be higher, for me its even better, can see the race clearer and closer!!  jumping8 boatsailing

TBWG's pontifications on Boat Races   ~~~~ The population of Satuk doubles to over 25,000 during boat race week,  in the past it has been crowded and all the seating full and  that is when the river was lower reavealing at least 2 maybe 3 more levels of seating. So this year it is going to be awfully crowded.

My view is that there is only so many boat races you can watch before it become repetitive!  I would recommend going under the bridge up the other side to one of the restaurants or the floating restaurant (see pic) and watching from there whilst supping a few beers!  You can still see the boats coming towards you, but the best bit it that the boats turn in that area so you have a good view of them when they capsize!

With the rate of flow this year there is bound to be a few incidents right there under your nose! boatsailing

Should anyone wish to show their gratitude for this inside info, you can always leave me a bottle of Archa behind the bar! unsurebar

At the moment there are still no issues with flooding on Satuk town side although it is a different story on the other side of the river!

TBWG sawadi

PS I will keep you updated on developments
