Night-time charity marathonThe only marathon to be held at midnight, the "Amari Watergate & BMW Thailand Charity Midnight Run" is back and will begin on October 9, offering two races: A six- and 12-km run.
City streets will be closed and guarded by about 400 police and security officers, with the support of local residents, shop owners, as well as the management and staff of Amari Watergate Bangkok for the 5,000 runners as they make their way along the course to the finish line.
Winners of the 12km race will graciously receive the Royal Trophy of HRH Princess Sirindhorn.
All proceeds from the event will go to charitable causes such as the Chalerm Prakiat HRH Princess Sirindhorn School, which supports the education of children whose parents died of HIV/Aids-related disease, and to BaanGerda, a children's charity providing care for HIV/Aids-infected orphans in Nong Muang village, Lop Buri. Entry fee is 1,000 and 300 baht and includes a complimentary running shirt.
