Good paint shop-Dulux or similar.
« on: September 14, 2010, 11:13:24 AM »
Hi

Sorry if this has appeared in the past...I did a search, and I couldn't find anything.
But that might be because of the gum leaves up my nose.

I need some good quality paint, Dulux washable, or any good brand which does the same job.
I tried in that big Home Mart near Big C...they only had cheap Thai paint.

Can anyone suggest a shop which stocks a range of half decent paint?
Any help would be appreciated

"Home Mart" have fair selection of paint kinds, also plastic washable ones, maybe you better visit again.
But if you didn't find there, I'm afraid your choices are somehow limited in Buriram, there is another place I know close to the Train station on Nivas road and also on Sukontamat road in the market area.

See Buriram city map here:

If you fancy a trip over to Surin, IQ Moderntrade has vast supplies and colour mixing facilities too.

The best paint shop I have found is the one near the market on Sukontamat Road, if you are coming from the city centre drive past the market (on your right) and about 50 metres from the lights, it is on your left.  They have Dulux and other major European brands.  I have had colours mixed there, they also have Ronseal varnish/wood stains etc.  The owner of the shop speaks good English and it is a fixed price for all, as in same price Thai and Farang.  But be aware Dulux is not cheap here, but I did the exterior of my house 3 years ago with it and it still looks very good, even if I say so myself.

Hope this helps

Agree that Dulux is very expensive over here. My house, inside and out, is done with TOA Supermatix. Very good finish and long lasting.

There are actually loads of shops in Buriram that sell paint. The one near the fresh market is one of the best. They also have a huge warehouse out on the road to Satuk just after the traffic lights where the large hotel, that was only open for about a week, is situated.

By the way if anybody wants some exterior "egg shell" type colour paint I have 2x 5 gallon pots for sale. Make me an offer.

Dulux is a fine brand of paint. However you may find the quality in all grades of the Japanese Brand Nippon Paint to be a better value proposition for Buriram home owners. Thursday this week Mr. Chalermpong Mahavanidvong the General Director of Nippon Paint  for all of Thailand brought a technical and sales training team to my store in Buriram. They spent real time in my classroom in training several of the store staff including multi-lingual Mr. Moses Lopez. For those Spanish speaking or English speaking customers I now have three California expats to serve them better. I do have native English speaking staff on duty 7 days a week from 8:30am to 5:30pm unless they are a local restaurant such as Roma Pizza, Paddy's Irish Bar, The Swan, Jimmy's or the happy hour of the Best Western Royal Buriram Hotel.  I offer the lowest prices on the "lines" of Nippon paint I have in stock in Buriram. I am also able to offer "factory mixed" colors of ANY color in the Nippon color sheet with a large enough order, and a maximum two week lead time. It may be faster, but Mr. Chalempong Mahavanidvong answered that question on special orders of factory mixed house paint in Thai and in English to my store managers.  I do sell way less expensive Thailand managed brands such as Galant and Delta Paints.  I am a full line TOA paint dealer and offer several lines of that Thailand paint in stock for immediate delivery. I've been offered to be a Buriram paint dealer of Pammastic paint, Beger paint, Jotun Paint, Dulux paint, Captain paint, Sherwin Williams paint, and Swan paint but I did not see the demand for another paint option that could not be met by TOA, Delta or Nippon paint.  Several British customers did not seem to recognize Pammastic paint brand, but approved the photo of the paint spokesmodel that would visit our store.  They seemed disappointed the Pammastic woman would not come and paint their home in the short skirt.
