Heavy rain warning for upper Thailand

North, northeastern and central warned of torrential rains
BANGKOK, 19 September 2010 (NNT) - The Thai Meteorological Department indicates high chances of heavy rainfalls in the northern, northeastern and central regions of Thailand during the next days ahead.
According to the latest forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, a low-pressure trough was moving through the lower north, lower northeastern, central and eastern. As a result, abundant rainfalls and sudden floods are to be expected in several provinces across the country in the next few days.
The provinces at risk are
Mae Hong Son,
Chiang Rai,
Chiang Mai,
Tak,
Sukhothai,
Kamphaeng Phet,
Phitsanulok,
Phichit,
Phetchabun,
Surin,
Si Sa Ket,
Ubon Ratchathani,
Nakhon Sawan,
Uthai Thani,
Kanchanaburi,
and Ratchaburi.
Local residents residing on the foothills and waterways in those provinces have been asked to take extra precautions against possible sudden floods during this period.
