THAI flight TG794 Lands Safely at Los Angeles International Airport

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI), Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Ampon Kittiampon, said that flight TG794 from Bangkok to Los Angeles landed safely on 7 September 2010 at Los Angeles International Airport following a bomb threat on this flight.

The situation began with a passenger finding a note in the lavatory and alerted cabin crew who informed the captain. US federal authorities were then informed and took immediate preparatory procedures for such situations upon the aircraft landing in Los Angeles. Since receiving this notification in the early morning of 07 September, THAI Chairman and THAI Management took immediate action in closely monitor the situation with all concerned departments.

Flight TG794, utilizing Airbus A340-500, registration number HS-TLC, carrying 171 passengers and 18 crew member, totalling 189 persons onboard left Bangkok International Airport (Suvarnabhumi) at 1930 hours and landed safely at Los Angeles International Airport at 2051 hours (Los Angeles time).

Thai Airways president Piyasvasti Amranand told The Associated Press that the message — written in English with bad grammar — warned that a bomb was on the plane.

"This must have caused some nuisance to the passengers," he said by phone from Singapore. "It sounds like it was done by a crazy person."

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited confirms that the aircraft utilized on flight TG794 that landed safely following a bomb hoax at Los Angeles International Airport has been released by U.S. federal authorities for its return flight to Bangkok.

The departure of flight TG795, routed Los Angeles-Bangkok, is delayed by two hours from originally scheduled time 23.20 hours to depart at 01.45 hours (Los Angeles Time) on the morning of 8 September 2010.

Flight TG794, utilizing Airbus A340-500, registration number HS-TLC, carrying 171 passengers and 18 crew member, totaling189 persons onboard left Bangkok International Airport (Suvarnabhumi) at 19.30 hours and landed safely at Los Angeles International Airport at 2051 hours (Los Angeles time).
