Bhum Jai Thai Boss Warned of Assassination

BANGKOK: -- A People's Alliance for Democracy leader claims Bhum Jai Thai Party de facto leader Newin Chidchob may be targeted for assassination due to squabbles with ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra.

He assumes that recent violent incidents may have been coordinated.

People's Alliance for Democracy, or PAD, chief Sondhi Limthongkul observed that the grenade attack at the NBT TV station as well as sabotage warned by the Pheu Thai Party may all be within the knowledge of the nation's security officials and politicians.

He noted that such incidents have bearing on the soon-to-be decided matters of the government budget and army reshuffle. Sondhi insists that these issues could even lead to a House dissolution.

Sondhi continued with his speculation, saying the Bhum Jai Thai Party's reshuffle of Interior Ministry officials is indicative of preparations for a new general election.

The PAD leader warned that de facto Bhum Jai Thai head Newin Chidchob may be targeted for assassination due to his offenses against fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

Sonthi later assured that he will seek legal action against investigators who charged PAD members with terrorism for their protests at Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang airports, but declined to give any further detail.

Me? Plot revenge? No way, says Thaksin
By The Nation on Sunday

Fugitive ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra has denied he is plotting revenge against rivals in his homeland, but says he "won't kiss up to anyone".

The former PM also warned that if both sides do not take a step back, both will lose, according to Matichon, which ran an interview after he rang the paper on Friday and talked about reconcilia-tion and Pheu Thai Party.

"Don't worry that I think about taking revenge. In my heart, I believe reconciliation is a great agenda. I do not think about taking revenge. I do not have any resentment against anyone. But I will not kiss up to anyone,'' he said.

Asked if he wants reconciliation, why he hasn't stopped a political movement that seems to put the country in jeopardy, Thaksin asked why had "harassment against him" not stopped.

Thaksin rejected criticism that Pheu Thai Party was on the way down with MPs defecting to other parties. "Let's wait and see when the general election is held. The party expelled the two rotten MPs, does this show the party is on the downward spiral?"

He also denied going into shock during a blood transfusion. "When people do not like each other, they can say anything but I forgive them," he said.

Newin alleges Thaksin behind reported assassination attempts

With tears in his eyes, Bhum Jai Thai Party de facto leader Newin Chidchob Monday begged former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra to stop harming Thailand and Thai people.

Newin alleged that Thaksin was behind the alleged training of gunmen in a neighbouring country to assassinate important figures in Thailand.

Newin said he had learnt about the training of armed fighters for over two months and said he was among the assassination targets.

He said Thaksin had announced his readiness to support reconciliation process but he and his men were acting the otherwise.

"I would like to implore you to think about the country's peace. If you really love Thailand, please stop and please use other means to make this country peaceful," Newin said.

"You are not living miserable life abroad but Thai people are now living in difficulty because of what you are doing. So, I implore you to stop what you are doing if you really love Thailand."
