Heading back to the Land of Pies in November
« on: August 18, 2010, 09:59:26 PM »
I am due to travel back to the UK in Nov this year for about 10 days, normally I drive to Suavanabhumi and park there, but on my return this time planning a small stop over in The City of Angels.  So some advice on the new Airport Link would be appreciated.  Also can anyone confirm Prakonchai Air Buses will take me direct (or close enough) on my outward journey?

All advice appreciated

Hi

This might help ....... Bangkok airport express train to open next week

BANGKOK (AFP) -- An elevated train line linking Bangkok's city centre and its main airport will be fully open for service next week after months of delays, the Thai state railway said Wednesday.

The non-stop "airport link", which covers 28 kilometres (17 miles) and cost 25.9 billion baht (800 million dollars), will officially open on Monday. Trains are due to run daily every 40 minutes, between 6am and midnight.

After months of test runs, the express service will offer passengers a 15-minute journey to Suvarnabhumi airport from Bangkok's centre for 100 baht, a spokeswoman for the State Railway of Thailand said.

Passengers returning the same day will not need to purchase another ticket.

A second city line will offer a 30-minute journey at a cheaper rate, stopping at eight stations along the way.

Hi GB

The Nakon chai Air Bus depot in Buriram bus station is a great help, has a computer booking system and the staff seems to be well informed.  Unfortunately when I used the service I slept all the way so do not know if you can get off along the way when closest to the airport. I seem to recall a taxi to the airport from their Bangkok depot was about 250 baht.

Commiserations on having to return to Newcastle in December even if it is only for 10 days! :(

Thanks TBWG

I will struggle on down to the Big Muang later today and have a word with the good people at the bus station.

Thanks for the kind words in respect of me having to go to Gods Country, the biggest Pi***r is that there is not even a home game whilst I am there, still that saves a lot of money on tissue when we get stuffed, again and again and again and again and again.

Q.What the best thing about being a Geordie?  A. Not being a Makam

Very good advise, TBWG, It happened to me also,to explain:

"Nakhon Chai Air" bus company have few stops in Bangkok:
1) Rangsit.
2) NCA bus station.
3) Mo Chit bus station.

I asked the NCA service boy where is the closest  station to the Suvarnabhumi International Bangkok airport and he advised me Mo Chit bus station, now we were passing Rangsit and I see the airplanes passing close to there lowering down ready to land but he insisted its not the right place for me to take a Taxi,
so I ended up same TBWG, Taxi meter, 250~ Baht, Traffic Jam, and 40 minutes. letitallout
