Songkran celebrations at SuvarnabhumiActivities to mark Songkran, the traditional Thai New Year, will be held at Suvarnabhumi airport from April 6-30 for both Thai and foreign tourists to participate, airport director Nirun Thiranartsin revealed on Saturday.
He said the interior of both arrival and departure lounges on the second and fourth floors of the passengers building will be decorated to create an atmosphere of the traditional Thai New Year.
A place will be arranged for passengers to bath a Buddha image.
There will also be booths for demonstrations of Thai culture and traditions.
Staff of the Airports of Thailand Plc will be dressed in Thai traditional costumes to relive the tourism climate.
Mr Nirun said on the occasion of the Thai New Year this year, the AoT has produced 35,000 Buddha amulets to be distributed to passengers and its staff at Gate No 6 of he departure lounge on the fourth floor from April 9-19.
