Moving to live in Thailand. Good and Bad.
« on: March 22, 2010, 10:52:08 AM »
The Best things and Worst things in Thailand. Good & Bad.

In keeping with all parts of the (civilised!) world, there are many good and many bad things about Thailand. It is what makes for a wonderful experience in life!

As with life in general, the bad things will often seek you out; but in Thailand the good things will also be very evident!

You choose to move to live in Thailand.  wave1
Many of us are living here for a very long time, some part time only.

From your OWN EXPERIENCE please give us a glimpse of life in Thailand in your eyes.

How do you feel when thinking of your own country abroad?
Do you miss it? Can you compare it at all to the way of life here?

In perspective of values, where do you find the ups and downs?

I live only part time 6 months in Thailand and every time I come to visit I think its better to stay this way.
I enjoy the freedom of a tourist and prices are relatively low and definitely beats prices back home but you cant just lay on the prices. right its cheap but what about all around it? culture, mentality,CORRUPTION, and other moral and way of life I could never fit in if I wasn't part time stayer, maybe in the future but as life taught me "never say never" and eventually its all comes to budget and how deep is your pocket, what I learnt in Thailand is that money is ALMOST all matters, you are on the wrong, pay ALMOST no problem, you're on the right PAY DOUBLE.  :D :D
farang we are and farang we will always stay. and any smile in the world can't cover this simple truth and FACT!
ask anyone been here in Thailand with low budget and he will tell you a bout a different Thailand than yours. if you're on the low budget part you'll find out the TRUTH ABOUT THAILAND and the real values motivate people may it be farangs or Thais living here.
watch your back because no body's else will do so here!

good. lots of things. mainly because the element of cost.
bad. I can't judge the locals as I am only a guest in their country and as you said. will always be.
accept it and follow their rules.
can complain but nobody force you to stay in this country.
I think there are lots of bad things and other things need to improve in this country, may it be corruption as you said, structures of streets and planning. its a developing country but also in the same time you have the chance to see this beautiful country developing. buriram is nothing like it was 2 years ago not mentioning 5 years ago.

words come easy here. too easy. basically, people will tell you what they think you want to hear.  hahaha

example;

falang: have?
x: have!
falang: when?
x: tomorrow.

day later: bip bip.
x: [big smile] tomorrw.
falang: but you said today.
x: still smile.
falang: I cancel.
x: mai penlai.

 :D :'(

another one just because its so true and sad:

electric shop.
falang: guarantee?
x: yes. 1 year.

1 day later.

falang: I just opened the camera box and its broken. see! here!
x: mai penlai. take glue and stick it together.
falang: but its new, i paid you cash and it wasn't cheap.
x: SMILE  biggreen
falang: I am very angry and will never buy a thing in your place!!!!
x: mai penlai.

 hahaha hahaha hahaha
