Middle Eastern food in Thailand.

For middle eastern food lovers ONLY!  icon_must

OK, its have been a long time that I wanted to give a review on the middle eastern food variety on offer in Thailand and specifically in Bangkok.

OK, lets start with the basic middle eastern known for all of us, the fast food, Shawarma/Doner:
I am very disappointed from the way they are doing the Shawarma in Bangkok, MOST of them moved to serve it in Tortilla bread instead of the thicker "Pita" bread ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pita ), probably because of the cost, but I think it cannot be sold like this in any way, Shawarma in Tortilla? ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tortilla )
something wrong here! and these sellers are Arabs, they must know it!!  confused4

OK so I found most Shawarma in Nana area very disappointing and only 2 places almost at the end of Soi 3 serve proper Shawarma.

Next, Arab restaurants, most of them are located on the same soi/street (Soi 3) which is also know as "Soi Arab", a proper name for the area because ALL of the businesses including Mosque and all the people there are Arabs, many of them with traditional dress and Arab keffiyeh ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keffiyeh ).
OK, so I got into the middle of the Soi and made a quick U-turn. hahaha

I had a visit in 'Beirut' restaurant in the past (Ploenchit Plaza, Basement Floor, Sukhumvit Soi 2, Bangkok), its a Lebanese restaurant, I wasn't impressed AT ALL!
Hummus came in a small flat dish, 'Pita' bread was very thin and cold (God! It came with plastic bag in a basket!), price was also expensive for what I got also.
OK, so in my search for a decent middle eastern food in Bangkok I found this little restaurant 'Shoshana' ( http://www.shoshanarestaurant.com/ ), good reviews and good prices, so I decided to check it out.
Location: 86 Chakrapong Rd, Banglampoo, Bangkok, Just off Khao San road, Opposite a temple.
Tel: 02-2829948 / 084-9426954

'Shoshana' restaurant is a small, simple Israeli restaurant serve middle eastern food and Thai food, its not fully crowded with back packers which is important for me!
Its a place to eat tasty and inexpensive food.

I will let the pictures talk by themself and you can explore the website by yourself, I'm telling you its the best value for money for this kind of food.

The Shawarma was excellent, Hummus made properly, mushrooms were hot (MUST!), the 'Pita' bread was thick and hot (MUST!), the salad was with the right amount of lemon and salt.

*There are many other dishes which looked excellent, will try in the future!

HUMMUS ROCKSSSSS !!!!!  jumping8
