Thanks Admin,

Within the next two weeks I'll make the decision about whether to go by train or car.  Although I must admit I like the idea of flexibility that a car offers.

regards

Tony

I got mail from PB Air today, my flight Nov 30th is cancelled. But they will refund the full amount.

Admin,
Same price, 5000 Baht for private car Buriram - BKK?
When do you need to know in advance?

Regards

I use Nakhon Chai Air gold class bus service from Buri Ram to Bangkok. 52 seat size coach with 32 seats in it so tons of room. The seats are recliners with built in massagers etc. They do show a movie for the first bit of the run but then it gets turned off. The drivers are very well trained compared to other busses here. Definitely no complaints on that front. They stop at their depot in Bangkok and then terminate at Mo Chit bus station. Price around 350 Baht a seat. I would recommend it highly compared to the train. Have done it plenty times before I started using the bus. Much better.

True. The bus is comfortable as well, cheaper of course, But it's all depand on the time you have or willing to spend on waiting for the bus time to Buriram (sometimes it can be hours of waiting).
Departing from the airport off from your flight to get into the Bangkok traffic after hours of long flight and jet lag is not a big fun  nono

I'll compare both ways and all can decide by yourself. wave1

Average Calculation of time consuming using the bus service:
30-40 minutes: Taxi Bkk airport - "Mo-chit" bus-station.
1.5 hours: Waiting for the bus to Buriram.
6+ hours:  The journey to Buriram.
30 minutes: Taxi Buriram bus-station to your final destination (Home/Hotel, In case you're in Buriram city area).

Total: 8.5+ Hours.

"Buriram Expats" offer an Express Service.
Off from your flight a driver will be waiting for you on time(!).
Helping you with the luggage and Directly to Buriram.
Within 5 hours you'll be arriving to the door step of your House/Hotel.

"Buriram Expats" Airport Transfer service Advantages:

-Faster.
-Safer.
-Time flexibility. You choose the time !  king1
-Up to 4 passengers+ Luggage

Note that the fuel is only part of the equation.  There is also insurance, vehicle wear (tires, oil, transmission), vehicle price (car payments), vehicle storage when not in use, license fees, etc.  All this needs to be taken into account.

In addition, you need to figure round trip as there is no guarentee that a return fare will be picked up, so the car returns empty.

So you have Vehicle costs + Round Trip Milieage + Driver compensation + other (tolls, airport parking, etc.) + Company Risk + Profit.

You may be able to get the guy next door take you for 2500-3000 Baht, but a business owner has to account for overhead.

All in all, 5000 baht for a well maintained vehicle, meeting your schedule and requirements seems reasonable.
