Red-shirts plan major ralliesThe red-shirts will, under the theme “Daeng Tang Duan†(Red All Month), hold three major anti-government demonstrations this month, Natthawut Saikua, a core leader of the United front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), said on Thursday afternoon.
“On October 11, the day that the 1997 Constitution was officially enforced, the red-shirts will rally at the Victory Monument to call for a reenactment of the charterâ€, Mr Natthawut said.
The red-shirt will also hold a mass gathering at government House again on Oct 17 to ask for a progress of the UDD’s petition seeking royal pardon for fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, according to Mr Natthawut.
Oct 17 is the 60th day after the petition had been submitted to the Office of His Majesty’s Principal Private Secretary. The office had already forwarded the petition to the government and it is now being considered by the Ministry of Justice.
“As it is clear that the government intends to delay the consideration process of the petition, the red-shirt will on that day launch a signatures collecting campaign for seeking impeachment of Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajivaâ€, said Mr Natthawut.
He said UDD will hold an outside-parliament no-confidence debate against the government on Oct 24.
