Thai passport renewal
« on: September 03, 2012, 02:37:21 AM »
Whats the easiest way to renew my wife's passport?
We live near Prackonchai.
Also she has a UK visa in her expired passport.Does anybody have any info on getting this changed to her new passport,or if this is not needed and maybe she just needs to carry her expired passport as well?

Thanks in advance for your valuable input.

Passport renewal office is in Korat in the Town Hall....very efficient service too...
With regard to the visa ,I guess you'll have to contact the British Embassy in BKK

She may transfer the UK visa to her new passport. The British Embassy will direct you to Visa4UK, the official British Government office for visa applications. The embassy itself does not deal with visa applications. They only issue the visa via this agency. Website: http://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/Welcome.htm.

I asked a UK immigration officer in Aberdeen that very question last week and was told that a visa remains valid even if the passport has expired. The visa can therefore be presented in the expired passport together with a new and valid passport. HTH.

Hi all,
Thanks for the info .
Easy to find the passport office, and back in the post 1 week later.
The wife done all this ...lol
For the UK visa i went with the 2nd less hassle/cheaper option of elastic band the old and new passports together.

Cheers
