Skilled Labor Recommendations
« on: March 28, 2008, 06:15:40 AM »
I have a house close to Buriram town (oops, teelak has the house) and am looking to recommendations for handyman type people.  Can be different people of course, for electircal work, plumbing and septic tank rebuild, window installs or repair, iron gate build.

I know, everyone says just ask anyone in the village and they should be able to do all these things.  Well thats why I am asking!  Everyone says, I can do that..... and come to find out, they can do it, but a half ass job.

I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for jobs well done or people to avoid in the Buriram town area.  Thanks

hehe that will be hard, building a house in this area and find the "right" builder is always a chance you take if they make the right things as you want them to do.

The only chance you'll get what you want them to do (and not 100%..never 100%) is to be with them full time while they're working.

If someone reccomand you on a builder that will do the job without you supervise him closely.. I wish you good luck.  :D  ;)

I have my wife,s uncle completing a house for me at the moment, in the past he has constructed a raised  water storage tank, with a 25mm ring main around the perimeter of my two rai with 12 stand pipes for irrigation  purposes. He has also done a temporary electric supply of almost a 1km and fitted an automatic pump. I have worked in the UK construction industry for 40yrs and have no problems at all with the quality or the effort he puts in his work otherwise I would not have had him build our house while I am back in UK. My wife has asked him for changes to the original plans and he has discussed them with her and given her good advice.
He is more a house builder than a oddjob man and can complete from foundations to light switches. He works on recomendation and has pride in his work. He works to a very good Thai standard, which is the best you will get in Thailand. If you have enough work for him he may be interested as it is local to him.Your wife/gf would have to be the interpreter as he speakes no English. If you think he could be of help to you I can probably  arrange to get his mobile no for you.
