New Immigration Office - Marriage Extension
« on: February 17, 2022, 07:04:53 AM »
So this week I went to the new Immigration office to do my Marriage Extension.  This year was the fastest process yet (5 yrs) although not quite as organised as last year. Went up to the Information podium stated I was there to do Marriage Extension. Handed over all documents for checking. Told I should have copied all pages of my bank book where previously only did the update page and information page (update took me to the last line on last page of book so whole book copied by Information Assistant). Hard copy photographs were copied onto A4 paper (again by Information Assistant).
Told to sit down and wait. % mins later called by one of the two IOs. Less than 10 mins to sign and process the package with her and job was complete. Under consideration date was set till April do it looks like they are adding 1 month to expiration of existing extension.
All in all the quickest extension I have done and a mate of mine who was processed the same day said he was also in and out in 15 mins (lived here 12 yrs). If I have one criticism it would be that the Information Desk is too small for two people working there and to check the documents. Other than that great service again from Buriram Immigration

We found it worthwhile to go to Immigration a week beforehand and ask what's new since last year.
This started when they wanted to see my "freedom to marry" document alongside the marriage certificate, then various bits and pieces every year concerning bank statements etc. Last year we were told we were the first ones that week that had complete documentation, there was a first timer in the room getting a bit distraught about the number of docs he was being told he didn't have ready for a marriage visa.
I don't feel doddery yet but wonder how I will manage when I do.

May I ask when was your Extension Due? Normally they count from that.
My last under consideration date was 40 days from applying till receiving the actual extension!

Yeah, Nice office / Great Service, but some improvements should already be done ;)

IAMMIKE _ My extension was due to end 12th March but like to get it in early. Last year they said it would take 30 days to review and again made it 30 days from the scheduled extension date. Unfortunately with Covid it was about 10 days after my under consideration stamp ran out when it was finally issued.

That they count from the date the old extension is DUE is normal.

And even it runs late NO problems, but they told me that I MUST to go back on the date that is stamped in your Passport to return in Person.

And another thing is, you won't be on overstay if it is issued later, but the new one will still be only valid (in your case) till March 12th 2023!!
