Mine is a purchase. I have Chanote. Could very well be that when you went the 49% foreign ownership had been met. ( I know that a Japanese race team bought two floors of building A. )

I am no expert on condos, but my understanding is you own the unit, but lease, along with everyone else. the plot of land the condo sits on.

There is a condominium title in Thailand where individual units in a building may be owned freehold. This means that the building or land is held on a lease from the land or building owner. The maximum fixed term of lease in Thailand is 30 years
