Dogs Spaying and possible side effects
« on: October 08, 2020, 03:11:56 PM »
Monday we picked up our Bang Kaew Female dog (2 months old) from Phetburi.

We already (before we got her) talked to the vet and they said we can have our Dog spayed at around 8-9 months old approx.

Talking to the breeder, he said it's a BAD idea to spay a Bang Kaew because of Hormones etc etc etc.

We have an appointment for her Booster shots with the VET on Monday and will also discuss this with them, but what do you fellow Dog owners think about this?

Thanks in advance

Ps: We are not interested in Breeding with her.

I?ve owned dogs all my adult life and for periods in the Uk bred.
I currently have 6 dogs, five are female.
My personal view is that it is far better to spay than to give repeated contraceptive injections. However, many vets recommend that is best to let them have their first season and then spay them Around a month after the season has finished.
The veterinary articles I?ve read on the subject State that if you have no wish to breed in the future then spaying the dog is far less likely to cause problems in later life than years and years of contraceptive treatment.

Thx Freddy very helpful and informative.

I also read about to Spay her after the first season but I am not really looking forward to have all the Male Dogs standing for our gate trying to get in and we can't get out!

Any solutions for that?

No solution for that  I?m afraid.
I?ve had bitches have their first season as young as 5 months so be observant. The first season may be very light with little blood show or swelling.

Thx again, she is just 2 months old so I will keep an eye out, I think I know when it's time when the Male Dogs start queuing at the gate

We have an appointment with the vet on Monday and will also discuss this with them.

Thx again really appreciated.

Ps: Here a picture of the little "Beast" hahahahaha
