Document Certification

My Thai Wife is applying for an Australian Visa and needs to have copies of her Passport and ID Card certified. I was told staff at the Satuek District Office could do this, but when we went there they had no idea what we wanted and told us to go to the Buriram Immigration Office. My Wife called and was told, "yes, we can do it" and was told what she needed to bring, but when we visited today, the IO told us he couldn't do it and we need to go to the Australian Embassy in Bangkok. Surely there is somewhere in Buriram where documents can be certified, please help 😁

BTW, I called a legal office in Buriram and was told they could do it, for 10,000 baht.

For a visa application, documents only need to be either certified as a true copy or need to be translated and stamped as a true translation.

The figure of 10k is for notarization. You do not need this. This is knowledge we have from previous experiences.

Alans, maybe things have changed since Dec 2018, when I got my wife her last Aussie Visa. Certified then meant that she has to sign the photocopy of her Passport and ID Card.  Be doing that for 8 years and no dramas. I even asked for special consideration as we have been getting one every year, and got a 3 year visa this time. Maybe you should ask them about what they actually mean re certification.
