Water shortages have have been talked about for some time now so it is to be expected.
We still have water from the village source but the mains water from the town supply is sporadic.

SIL is telling us that she has never seen so many well drillers around, everyone is getting wells at the moment it seems.
But IMHO the problem is that those guys will stop drilling when they hit water, which is usually here around 12-15 meters, but when we drilled our well (4-5 years ago) we told them to go on and in the end we stopped at 40 meters and the only reason why is that we ran out of pipes

FIL has an old well probably like you said they stopped at first water. This well is dry as of yesterday. So far our wells are still producing. If too many people bore wells and start pumping onto the rice fields then I suspect we will see a few more go dry.

Southern Buriram all the lakes are the lowest I have ever seen them. Not going to dry up anytime soon but probably at half capacity or maybe a little less.
